Since making my first tactic iv found it so hard to get another one that im trully happy with. I got stuck in a rut of starting a new game and basically just buying the same players who fitted into my formation and i knew would play well there. Now with the announcement of FM11 iv decided to make the tactic that i always wanted my team to play - FourFourTwo with a big old plank of a Target Man.
It took awhile to get this tactic going as with all my other attempts of a 4-4-2 formation it started badly. So i downloaded Crewe_Alex's 4-4-2 tactic that had alot of good reviews to see how he got it to work. Playing 15 games or so with his tactic i got a general idea that crossing is bad unless players do it when they are told not to. This is the basis of all good FM10 tactics as pure wingers are fairly useless at the top level of the game. I wanted my team to be more direct and a lot better defensively than Crewe_Alex's great attemp of a 4-4-2 so my defenders have a much more defensive mentallity and direct passing.
The midfield is basically the same as my first tactic exempt the wingers dont cut inside as i had major trouble when trialling with this. Since this tactic is all about the Target Man a playmaker will make him less affective so there isnt one. Iv got the Target Man a few notches below his strike partner so he can win flick ons and hold up the ball so his partner can make runs for him to get played through on goal.
Iv been scoring for fun with my Tottenham team and Crouch is constantly having a game. Looking forward to see if I can win the EPL with a 4-4-2 target man tactic, total unheard of on these forums.
So far the tactic has more than held its own especially with my team missing key players.
Would like to thank Crewe_Alex immensely as without his tactic as a base to work from i could never of made this. Hope people try this out to see if they can get it to work for them instead of constantly playing these stupid 4-3-3 formations that guarantee wins. Lets get it back to some real football!!!
